The importance of regular audience call-outs.

I remember when Jeremy Clifford once told me:

“Do you remember the days when video calls were nerve-racking? Covid normalised that very quickly.”

That was such a lightbulb moment for me. 💡

We need to train our audience just as much as we need to train our teams.

So how do we train our audience that contributing and engaging with newsrooms is the new normal?

The key is in the word regular. We need to create regular opportunities (and examples!).

Creating regular audience call-outs will normalise readers interacting directly with your newsroom.

This will:

- Normalise the interaction
- Break down that barrier to entry
