The Contribly Story

Where we came from:

Contribly started life in The Guardian’s busy newsroom, where editors discovered the potential of engaging their global audience in reporting the news. They wanted to turn their users in to contributors.

The need for high quality for digital and print publication as well as exacting standards for verification meant that new, robust and efficient tools were needed to manage this incoming stream of photos and videos from around the world.

Fast forward to 2016 with over 1 million contributions and with the award-winning Guardian Witness in its fourth year, Contribly becomes an independent company. The Contribly founders are on a mission to help busy editors everywhere, with deadlines to meet, bring user generated content to life.

Meet the Contribly founders:

Tony McCrae is an experienced and highly regarded developer, who has been involved with Contribly, formerly n0tice, since the very beginning. Tony is the architect of the Contribly Platform.

She brings her experience and understanding of user generated content and audience development, together with her fluent French, Spanish and English to make user generated content a success everywhere.

Linda Broughton is a software engineer by profession whose experience in working with CNN, Boston Globe, ESPN, Parliament and Britannica is now focussed on making Contribly-driven user generated content integral to what you do.
